SECTION TWO

You can't use the elevators just yet as you need a modified key card. However, there's a few goodies in the room. Beside the Red Emergency Box near the door is a plug, and inside the box are various things you may find useful if you have enough plugs. I didn't, yet. :(

Near the dead man is a large box behind which you can find a Recovery Aid. There's also a dead researcher on the floor, but he has nothing useful that you can take. Go through the doors at the opposite end to where the emergency box is (screenshot).

Turn off the lasers and go into the Office on the left, getting ready for another raptor. There are a few things to read in here, so wherever you see any document, on the floor or the tops, make sure you read them. One of particular importance is a memo on the whiteboard on the right wall. Here you will find details of another researcher, Paul Baker, Registration number: 58104.

On the countertop to the left (when you entered the room) is a red file that details information on Third Energy and a fatal disaster that it caused. It also tells of an experiment regarding something called a Stabilizer.

At the other end of the room is a device that can re-write ID cards. This will come in very useful later. You can't do much else in here, but if you hadn't killed the raptor it would have followed you out of the room and you'd have been in trouble! At the far end of the room you'll see some double-doors. You can unlock these if you like. They lead to the passageway near the backyard of the facility where you first entered.

Go back out of the other door where you first entered the room. Outside, somewhere in the hallway, is another raptor. If you hadn't killed the one in the office you would have had two to deal with! Follow the passage to the left of the office door. You'll come to another grating, but don't climb up it, yet. Go round the corner and search the dead body to find another plug. Go through the doors close by into the Lecture Room. Walk straight ahead and turn left at the end to pick up the BG Room B1 Key.

As soon as you pick it up, a raptor bursts through a vent in the ceiling! When you see the word DANGER flashing on the screen, quickly press all of the buttons on your controller rapidly and randomly in order to survive! Just as Regina thinks she's finished, she hears a burst of gunfire and the raptor drops down dead. She looks up to see...Gail! Yay! He's not dead after all! Gail and Regina catch up and then he tells her he's going to find Rick.

You are going to make your way back to Rick, too, so you can go back the way you came and see what's in the red emergency box, or you can climb up through the vent above the grating to Piping Check Passageway B 1F. This leads to the toilets, which lead out to the management office hallway, behind more lasers. You can't unlock the door there, yet, so make your way round to the management office, go through and save your game.

Exit the room and make your way back to the control room again. After a brief conversation with Gail and Rick, Regina is sent to restore the power to the underground area so they can continue searching for the doctor. As you leave the room, another raptor usually bursts in, so get rid of him before continuing.

You are making your way outside again, so you can either go through the management office and the main entrance, through the doors opposite the one you enter, or you can climb up through the vent, to get back to the office hallway where you first entered the facility. Once outside, turn right and go past the green double-doors. Around the corner you can unlock the gate to the B1 Backup Generator Room. Go through to find another An. Aid, and then climb down the metal ladder to the generator room.

Follow the passage until you come to a battery charger with a full battery inside. Take out the Startup Batt. R and continue along the passage to another set of switches. This time one of the batteries next to the switches is missing. Stand near the batteries and select from your inventory the startup battery you just collected. Once it's in place, set the batteries to match the switches again: red, blue, green, white, and then pull the switches. Rick calls you to get back to him as he has something he wants to tell you, but before making your way back to the control room, push the shelves near the switches to find another plug.

As you enter the facility and make you way along the office hallway, a raptor crashes through the window, so watch out! For me, this took a little more killing than the others, but that doesn't mean it will for you. Once back with Gail and Rick, they tell you they saw something on the monitor that could be Dr. Kirk.  Regina then receives a distress signal that could be from her team member, Tom. Gail wants to stick to the mission and go and find Kirk, but Rick is concerned about his teammate and thinks you should try and rescue him, first. What do you do?

First of all, you need to know that when you are faced with a choice there are no rights and wrongs, but certain choices can make the game longer and/or more difficult. You have to decide which is best for you. I usually follow Rick at this point, but here are the different options. If you follow Gail you will get certain items sooner, but you'll still get them if you decide to follow Rick instead.

First Choice - Follow Gail

Leave the control room and turn left and go round the corner to the now opened security gates and follow the passage. Go down the stairs to the Medical Room Hallway. Regina spots some small dinosaurs feasting on something. They may look harmless, but if they bite you they will eventually kill you. Don't waste your time trying to shoot them as it will just attract more.

The door to the right is the Medical Room and is also another save point. Inside the room, in a box to Regina's right, is a plug. On the desk at the opposite end of the room is an ID Card, which you will need. There is also a Med. Pack M in the cabinet to the left. There is a memo on the desk explaining that an ID card is needed to enter the strategy room. In the room beside the desk is an emergency case, but you can't open it as you don't have the key.

Leave the room (saving your game if you wish) and turn right. Run past the small creatures and through the door into Hall B1. Here you catch up with Gail who runs after the figure he's just seen. He dives past the shutters, but they come down too quickly for Regina to get through. Gail contacts her to tell her he has a positive ID on the Doc and she needs to get to him. Regina looks through the shutters and sees an elevator and tells Gail she may be able to use it.

Make you way back through the medical room hallway, up the stairs, past the control room, and through the management office. Turn left and go around the corner towards the door that you couldn't open earlier, the one beside the toilets. You can now open it with the ID card. Enter the Strategy Room. There's plenty to grab in here. There's a plug on the floor, and on the table in the centre of the room is the F.C Device (Fingerprint Collecting Device). This device inputs fingerprint identification data onto an ID card.

Read the data file on the table. Here you learn that it's possible to rewrite an ID card using a computer terminal and fingerprints from a corpse collected by the Fingerprint Collecting Device. That sounds interesting! Find and collect the DDK Code Disc E on the table. There's also a Yellow Emergency Box on the wall at the far end of the room.

Now you need to make your way right back to the backyard of the facility, where you first entered. Leave the room and go past the management office (or enter and save your game). Go through the main entrance, through the door at the other end, and follow the passage until you come to the backyard. Go through the gate ahead and you will be contacted by Tom. He tells you that he found Tom, but he unfortunately died. Regina looks at the unexplored gate to her left. Go through it to the Large Size Elevator Passageway.

There are a couple of raptors here. Deal with them, or run past them if you want to save ammo. Pick up the Slag Bullets and the resuscitation if you want and continue to the large doors at the end. Once you enter, a cut scene will show Regina being attacked by a flying pteranodon. It knocks her down and picks her up. She drops her gun, and the DANGER sign flashes up, so mash those controller buttons if you don't want to end up seriously injured!

Once the scene has finished, I don't even bother to pick up the gun just yet. Turn and run through the nearby door to the Large Size Elevator Control Room. Pick up the DDK Input Disc L from the table top. Keep going and search Tom's body for the DDK Code Disc L.

Go through the sliding door to the left of Tom and collect the new map data from the map on the wall.

Second Choice - Follow Rick

This is the option I always select as it's faster and you end up in the same place anyway. Once you make your choice, the map will pop up to show you where you need to be. Head back through the main entrance and outside to the backyard. You'll see Rick walking through the gate to Regina's left. Follow him to the Large Size Elevator Passageway.

Pick up the DDK Input Disc L from the table top and then go through the sliding door to the left of Tom and Rick, and collect the new map data from the map on the wall.
